EFT Burst Immunity Testing

EFT/Burst Immunity Testing Services

Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) immunity testing evaluates your product's ability to withstand repetitive fast transients caused by switching operations in power systems. Compatible Electronics provides comprehensive IEC 61000-4-4 EFT/Burst testing.

What is EFT/Burst Testing?

EFT/Burst transients are caused by switching of inductive loads, relay contact bounce, and interruption of current in power circuits. These disturbances couple onto power and signal lines, potentially disrupting electronic equipment operation.

Our EFT Testing Capabilities

Voltage & Timing

  • Voltage levels: up to ±4.4 kV
  • Rise time: 5 ns ± 30%
  • Burst duration: 15 ms
  • Burst period: 300 ms

Coupling Methods

  • AC power line coupling via CDN
  • Signal/control line coupling via capacitive clamp
  • Both polarities tested

Why EFT Testing is Important

EFT immunity testing is required for CE marking (EMC Directive), medical device approval, and many industrial applications. Products that fail EFT testing may experience data errors, resets, or malfunctions in real-world installations.
