What is ISM Equipment?
Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) equipment generates and uses RF energy locally for industrial, scientific, medical, or domestic purposes — excluding telecommunications. Products include welding equipment, microwave ovens, plasma systems, induction heaters, diathermy devices, UV curing systems, and laboratory instruments.
The primary international standard is CISPR 11, published as EN 55011 in Europe. Laboratory measurement and control equipment additionally falls under the IEC 61326 series. See About Family Standards, About Generic Standards, and EMC Introduction for broader context.
🔎 CISPR 11 Groups & Classes: Group 1 uses RF energy only for internal functioning; Group 2 intentionally generates RF for material treatment. Class B limits (residential) are stricter than Class A (industrial). Our EMC Design Consulting team can help determine which classification applies to your product.
Immunity Testing (IEC 61000-4 Series)

Harmonic Current & Voltage Flicker
