Compatible Electronics is NVLAP-accredited for multiple versions of EN 61000-6-4 and IEC 61000-6-4 — the generic emissions standard for industrial environments — at three Southern California locations.
EN 61000-6-4 is the generic emissions standard for industrial environments published by CENELEC. It sets Class A emission limits — for equipment intended for industrial and heavy-industrial environments where less strict limits apply compared to residential/commercial equipment. When no product-specific EMC standard covers emissions and the product is designed for industrial use, EN 61000-6-4 provides the applicable requirements for CE marking under the EU EMC Directive.
EN 61000-6-4 emissions testing covers radiated emissions and conducted emissions, performed at Compatible Electronics' NVLAP-accredited OATS and semi-anechoic chambers. For industrial immunity requirements, see our EN 61000-6-2 generic immunity testing page. See About Generic Standards and Residential & Light Industrial Learning page for guidance on which standard to apply.
🔎 EN 61000-6-4 vs EN 61000-6-3: EN 61000-6-4 applies to industrial environments and uses Class A emission limits, which are 6–10 dB less strict than the Class B limits of EN 61000-6-3 (residential). A product sold for industrial installation that would fail Class B limits may still pass Class A limits. Confirm the intended use environment with your EMC engineer before selecting the standard.

EN 61000-6-4 covers emissions only. Combine with EN 61000-6-2 industrial immunity testing for a complete CE marking package for industrial products.
Products with switch-mode power supplies also need IEC 61000-3-2 (harmonics) and IEC 61000-3-3 (flicker) testing — done in the same visit.
EN 61000-6-4 is harmonized under Directive 2014/30/EU. Test reports support the Technical File and Declaration of Conformity for CE marking.
Add KS C 9610-3-2/3-3 for Korean KC mark and AS/NZS testing for Australian RCM compliance in the same campaign.
