Compatible Electronics is NVLAP-accredited for ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2 (2019) — the harmonised standard for wideband data transmission equipment operating in the 2.4 GHz band, covering Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee and other 2.4 GHz devices at our Brea, California facility.
ETSI EN 300 328 is the harmonised European standard for wideband data transmission systems operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band (2400–2483.5 MHz). It covers the essential requirements of Article 3.2 of the EU Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU, specifying radio frequency (RF) output power limits, out-of-band emissions, transmitter frequency stability, and spectrum access requirements for devices using spread spectrum and similar modulation techniques in this band.
EN 300 328 is one of the most widely referenced wireless standards in Europe — required for CE marking of any product that transmits in the 2.4 GHz band. It is applicable to both Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax) and Bluetooth (Classic and LE) devices, Zigbee (IEEE 802.15.4), and other spread spectrum equipment in this frequency range. For the broader RED compliance picture including EMC requirements, see our ETSI RED Testing and ETSI EN 301 489 pages.
🔎 EN 300 328 vs EN 301 489: EN 300 328 covers the radio performance requirements (Article 3.2 of RED) — transmit power, spurious emissions, spectrum access. EN 301 489 covers the EMC requirements (Article 3.1(b) of RED) — conducted and radiated immunity of the radio equipment. Both are required for a complete CE marking Declaration of Conformity for a 2.4 GHz device. Compatible Electronics is accredited for both at Brea.

| ETSI EN 300 328 V2.2.2 (2019-07) | Wideband transmission systems — Data transmission equipment operating in the 2.4 GHz band — Harmonised Standard for access to radio spectrum under EU RED Directive 2014/53/EU. | Brea |
EMC requirements (Article 3.1(b)) — EN 301 489-1 common requirements + EN 301 489-17 for broadband data transmission. Required alongside EN 300 328.
Article 3.1(a) safety requirement for devices worn or carried near the body. EN 62209, EN 50663 or EN 62479 as applicable.
EN 300 328 compliance forms the basis of the Technical File and Declaration of Conformity for CE marking of 2.4 GHz radio equipment.
Canadian ISED certification for Wi-Fi / BT devices uses RSS-247. Compatible Electronics is accredited for RSS-247 — test both in one visit.
