Compatible Electronics supports UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking for radio equipment placed on the Great Britain market — applying the same Radio Equipment Regulations (UK RER) test standards used for EU RED compliance at three Southern California locations.
Following the UK's departure from the European Union, products placed on the Great Britain market (England, Wales, and Scotland) require UKCA marking instead of CE marking. The UK Radio Equipment Regulations 2017 (UK RER) transpose the EU Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU into UK law and specify the essential requirements for radio equipment — radio performance, EMC, and safety — required for UKCA marking.
The technical requirements of the UK RER mirror those of the EU RED. The same radio performance test standards (ETSI EN 300 328, EN 300 440, EN 300 330, EN 300 220, EN 301 357) and the same EMC standards (ETSI EN 301 489 series) that apply to EU CE marking also apply to UKCA marking. Test reports generated for EU RED compliance can typically support UKCA marking, subject to the conformity assessment route and any GB-specific requirements. See our CE Marking EMC Testing page for the companion EU standard requirements.
🔎 UKCA vs CE Marking: UKCA applies to Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland). CE marking is required for Northern Ireland (under the Windsor Framework) and for the EU market. Products sold in both GB and the EU/NI may need both UKCA and CE marks. The technical standards are the same — test reports supporting EU RED compliance can generally also support UK RER compliance. Our EMC Design Consulting team can advise on the correct conformity assessment route for your product.
