Compatible Electronics is NVLAP-accredited (Lab Code 200527-0) for IEC 60335-2-29 and EN 60335-2-29 safety testing of battery chargers for household and similar use at our Lake Forest/Silverado location.
IEC 60335-2-29 is the Part 2 particular requirements standard for battery chargers for household and similar use, always applied together with IEC 60335-1 general requirements. It addresses specific hazards associated with charging batteries — including overcharging, thermal runaway, electrolyte spillage, and hydrogen gas generation — for chargers with rated voltages not exceeding 250 V single phase or 480 V other types.
The standard is essential for CE marking under the EU Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU). EMC testing for chargers uses EN 55014-1 (emissions), IEC 61000-3-2 (harmonics), and IEC 61000-3-3 (flicker) — all available in a combined visit.
💡 Part 1 + Part 2: IEC 60335-2-29 is always tested in conjunction with IEC 60335-1. Part 2 modifies and supplements Part 1 for the specific hazards of battery charging equipment.
